The Housekeeping Supervisor position at Marriott Providence Downtown, managed by Meyer Jabara Hotels, plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall guest satisfaction within the property. Reporting directly to the Director of Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the housekeeping staff and their activities, ensuring the hotel upholds high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work with various equipment such as telephones, two-way radios, housekeeping carts, vacuum, broom, window cleaner, furniture polish, all-purpose cleaner, dumpster/trash compactor, sponges, mops, buckets, keys, hand vacuum, extension cords, door stoppers, laundry chutes, elevators, floor care products, carpet extractor, wet/dry vacuum
  • Ability to work with office equipment including computers and company software
  • Ability to work under variable temperature and noise conditions
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to work around chemicals, fumes, odor hazards, dust, and mite hazards
  • Ability to exert medium work up to 50 pounds occasionally or 20 pounds frequently

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in hotel or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with hotel policies and procedures to encourage safe and efficient operations
  • Supervise and ensure completion of all duties of housekeeping staff
  • Log all requests and confirm completion
  • Maintain key control
  • Keep immediate supervisors informed of challenges or matters requiring attention
  • Balance and prepare paperwork for shift closing
  • Inspect all rooms assigned daily
  • Notify housekeepers of deficiencies and re-inspect corrected rooms
  • Prepare daily assignments in absence of Housekeeping Manager
  • Submit maintenance reports and requests
  • Communicate with Front Desk regarding room discrepancies
  • Clean guest rooms when needed
  • Inspect housekeeping storage areas and carts
  • Supervise and inspect night attendant duties
  • Inspect laundry room daily
  • Check washers/dryers and lint traps
  • Assist in training department staff
  • Complete floor walks and inspections of carpets, walls, ashtrays, mirrors, and lights
  • Assist in preparing weekly payroll
  • Supervise staff including hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Complete inspections of public areas and offices
  • Inspect equipment maintenance
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions
  • Check and respond to electronic communications timely
