The Housekeeping Supervisor role at the Fairfield Inn Philadelphia, located at 8800 Bartram Avenue, is an essential position responsible for maintaining exemplary housekeeping standards across assigned sections of the hotel. Under this role, the supervisor administers and coordinates housekeeping activities, oversees the performance of room attendants, and acts as the Housekeeping Manager in their absence. This position plays a critical part in preserving the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the guest rooms and public areas, ensuring all areas meet the company’s exacting quality standards.
The ideal candidate for the Housekeeping Supervisor will be a proactive and organized professional with a strong background in hospitality or hotel housekeeping operations. Responsibilities include daily inspections of room attendants’ work, ensuring carts and supply closets are orderly and well-stocked, maintaining key control, and handling lost and found items in accordance with company policy. The supervisor also manages the closure of floors, enforces timely completion and submission of daily assignments, and maintains communication with front office and engineering through active pager or radio use.
In addition to operational oversight, this role involves initiating and following through on work orders for maintenance and repairs, assisting with training housekeeping personnel, and stepping in to clean rooms as needed. A strong focus on guest satisfaction and cleanliness is paramount, with additional duties including biannual cleaning projects and monitoring progress of out-of-order rooms. Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two to three years of progressive hotel or related field experience preferred
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
- Ability to stand during entire shift
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests
- Ability to carry and use a pager or radio
- Must be service oriented and friendly
- Able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- College coursework in related field helpful
- At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
- Ability to stand during entire shift
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner
Job Duties
- Inspect room attendant’s work performance within assigned section on a daily basis to ensure standards and productivity are met
- In the absence of Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and report availability to Front Office according to hotel standards
- Oversee closing of floors at end of day, ensuring room attendants’ carts are clean and restocked
- Ensure records of daily assignments are completed, signed off and turned into Housekeeping Office on time
- Maintain key control
- Handle lost and found items according to standards
- Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of room attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways and landings
- Oversee daily assignment of duties ensuring room attendants and house attendants have work assignments
- Carry an active pager or radio to maintain contact with Front Office and/or Engineering throughout shift
- Report on progress of out-of-order rooms under Housekeeping supervision to Guest Services Manager according to standards
- Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance and forward to Engineering and follow through until completed
- Assist with training of housekeeping staff
- May be required to clean rooms as business needs dictate
- Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
