The role of Housekeeping Supervisor is an essential leadership position within the hotel's housekeeping department. This supervisor is a key player in ensuring the department consistently meets high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency. Acting as a conduit between management and housekeeping staff, the supervisor helps implement management's vision by training, coaching, and leading a dedicated team. This position demands an individual with practical knowledge of all housekeeping responsibilities and the ability to model best practices on the job. Besides overseeing day-to-day cleaning tasks, the Housekeeping Supervisor must carefully monitor supply usage, manage scheduling to align with guest needs and business demands, and uphold safety standards according to OSHA guidelines. The role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational duties with team motivation, always striving for departmental and overall hotel excellence.

Those selected for the Housekeeping Supervisor role will be entrusted with duties such as assisting in the training of new hires to integrate them effectively, encouraging open communication within the team, and conducting thorough inspections to maintain cleanliness. The supervisor is also responsible for addressing any equipment or facility issues by coordinating with maintenance or security departments promptly. Physical endurance and resilience are necessary due to the nature of the job, which involves standing for long periods, walking considerable distances, and handling moderately heavy lifting and manual tasks. Fluency in English is required to ensure clear communication with guests and colleagues alike. Job Requirements

  • three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • prior supervisory experience preferred
  • effective use of housekeeping equipment and tools
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to perform medium physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • capacity to stand for long periods and walk long distances
  • physical ability to kneel, bend, stretch, twist or reach as necessary
  • ability to work under variable temperature and noise conditions
  • long hours sometimes required
  • ability to multitask
  • strong communication skills with fluency in English

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years progressive housekeeping experience in a hotel or related field
  • prior supervisory experience preferred
  • strong knowledge of housekeeping equipment and cleaning techniques
  • excellent communication skills with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • ability to train and lead a team effectively
  • good organizational and scheduling abilities

Job Duties
