Job Description
Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a renowned nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. Since its establishment in 1955, PHS has been a leader in providing high-quality housing choices, care, and service options tailored to older adults. With a committed workforce of approximately 8,000 employees, PHS serves over 41,800 older adults across 60 affiliated senior living communities in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. In addition to senior living, PHS operates Optage® home and community services and is co-owner of Genevive, Minnesota's largest geriatric primary care practice, serving more than 15,500 older adults. The organization's mission emphasizes promoting independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being for the seniors they serve, positioning PHS as one of the nation's largest nonprofit providers of senior housing and services.
One of PHS's newest communities, Marvella, is centrally located in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota. This vibrant, multigenerational community offers a diverse range of living options for seniors, including senior housing, retail and commercial businesses, and market-rate apartments. Marvella stands out due to its unique setting, which combines easy access to retail shopping and dining with beautiful natural views of the Mississippi River. The community is designed to empower older adults to live their stories every day, offering supportive services and an environment that nurtures well-being and comfort.
The part-time Housekeeper/Housekeeping Services Assistant role at Marvella is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents. Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the part-time position involves weekend shifts and focuses on ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the community’s buildings and grounds. This role is vital in upholding an attractive, sanitary, and orderly environment consistent with the policies and regulatory requirements of PHS.
Responsibilities include general cleaning tasks such as floor care, washing, sanitizing, polishing furniture and fixtures, waste removal, and window cleaning. Additionally, the role involves managing laundry services, which includes collecting, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and distributing linens and residents' personal clothing according to the assigned schedules. The housekeeper is also responsible for inspecting laundry quality, communicating supply replacement needs to supervisors, and ensuring equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift.
Candidates must possess flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, coworkers, family members, visitors, and the general public. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and follow directions, and compatibility with the mission and operating philosophies of Presbyterian Homes & Services. Effective communication in English, both written and verbal, is essential for this role.
The starting pay range for this position is estimated between $19.09 and $20.59 per hour, depending on qualifications and market conditions, with potential adjustments. The part-time role offers various benefits eligibility options depending on weekly hours worked, including vision insurance, voluntary disability coverage, accident and hospitalization insurance, and education assistance programs. All employees benefit from paid time off accrual, same-day pay, an employee assistance program, educational discounts, and access to wellness resources.
Joining PHS at Marvella means becoming part of an innovative, compassionate organization that prioritizes the dignity and quality of life for older adults. It offers a supportive work environment where staff members are valued, and continuous personal and professional growth is encouraged.
