Job Description
Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a well-established nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. Since its founding in 1955, PHS has grown into one of the largest nonprofit providers of senior housing and services in the United States, boasting over 60 affiliated senior living communities across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. With a dedicated team of more than 7,500 employees, PHS serves over 26,000 older adults through a comprehensive range of housing options, care services, and community programs. The organization also co-owns Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, which provides specialized care to over 15,000 older adults. PHS is recognized as an innovative leader committed to promoting independence, purposeful living, and holistic well-being among seniors.
Mill Pond, one of the PHS-affiliated communities, is located on a picturesque five-acre campus in Ankeny, Iowa, just south of First Street and close to Interstate 35. This prime location offers easy access to amenities throughout Polk County and the greater Des Moines area, serving residents from nearby towns such as Johnston, Polk City, Bondurant, Altoona, Huxley, and Elkhart. Mill Pond provides a welcoming environment for older adults through its various care options including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long Term Care. The community features attractive outdoor spaces with walkways and waterfalls, creating a serene and comfortable home-like setting for its residents.
PHS at Mill Pond is actively seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Housekeeping Services Assistants to join its team. This role is an integral part of maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and comfort that contribute to residents’ quality of life. Housekeeping team members are responsible for ensuring that all work areas, buildings, and grounds are clean, safe, and inviting. The position offers competitive wages ranging from $15.55 to $18.23 per hour, based on experience, with available shifts from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Candidates must be available to work every other weekend.
Working at Mill Pond, you will be part of a close-knit, community-oriented team that values personal integrity, flexibility, and dedication to service. Employees benefit from access to various amenities, such as free employee meals and an on-site fitness center. Additionally, the organization fosters a supportive and empowering work culture that emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and a shared mission of enriching the lives of older adults.
This Housekeeping Services Assistant position involves a broad range of duties, from general cleaning and floor care to laundry services, including sorting, labeling, washing, drying, and distributing linens and personal clothing for residents. Maintaining stock levels of housekeeping and laundry supplies, properly cleaning and storing equipment, and reporting replacement needs are all part of the job responsibilities. This role requires effective communication skills, the ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and collaborate with fellow staff, residents, and their families. PHS values candidates who demonstrate a genuine alignment with their mission and operating philosophies.
As a PHS employee, you will enjoy access to a variety of benefits, especially if employed full-time with at least 30 hours per week. These benefits include health and dental insurance with options for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), employer contributions to HSA for eligible plans, life insurance, retirement plans with employer matching contributions, holiday pay, and extended sick leave. For those working 20 to 29 hours weekly, PHS offers vision insurance, voluntary disability insurance, accident and hospitalization coverage, and education assistance programs. All employees qualify for paid time off accrual, same-day pay, an employee assistance program, college partnership educational discounts, and access to mental health and wellness resources through Learn to Live.
By joining the Mill Pond team under the Presbyterian Homes & Services umbrella, you will be part of an organization deeply committed to creating a purposeful, respectful, and vibrant community for older adults, while providing you with meaningful employment and promising career development opportunities.
