The role focuses on the vital function of a porter within the Rooms and Guest Services Operations department. Porters are pivotal in ensuring seamless guest experiences by collaborating with various hotel departments such as housekeeping, engineering, banquets, restaurants, and reception. The job involves delivering articles directly to guest rooms or providing support wherever necessary. Porters are the backbone in upholding hotel success by responding promptly to the needs of both guests and employees throughout the property.

This position is dynamic and physically demanding. Porters are constantly on the move: standing, sitting, walking extensively, navigating tight spaces, ascending and descending stairs and service ramps. The job requires lifting and moving objects up to 55 pounds without assistance, as well as tasks such as inspecting tools, equipment, or machinery. Attention to detail is essential, including the ability to read various formats and small print. Professionalism in appearance, communication, and adherence to company policies is mandatory at all times.

Working hours include day and evening shifts, with a preference for evening shift availability. The porter role stretches beyond simple manual tasks and actively contributes to the hotel’s overall quality standards and guest satisfaction. Duties require physical agility such as reaching, kneeling, turning, stretching, and bending. The role calls for a proactive, hands-on approach to fulfill responsibilities and support the business’s operational success.
