The Housekeeping Room Attendant position at the Intercontinental St. Paul Riverfront is a crucial role within the hotel's housekeeping department. This hourly, non-exempt position reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor and plays a vital role in ensuring guest satisfaction by maintaining impeccable cleanliness and order throughout guest rooms and public areas. The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for preparing rooms to meet the strict standards of cleanliness and propriety that are required to maximize guest comfort and hotel revenue. This includes thorough cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and washing, as well as restocking supplies and inspecting rooms for maintenance issues. The role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a cheerful demeanor to promote a positive guest experience. Additionally, the attendant assists other departments when needed, contributing to the overall operational success of the hotel. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
prior experience in housekeeping or cleaning preferred
ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
physical stamina to perform cleaning duties for an entire shift
strong attention to detail
ability to follow instructions and work independently
good communication skills
commitment to maintaining a friendly and courteous demeanor at all times

Job Qualifications

Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles
knowledge of use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment
vision ability to see minute debris and dirt and read written instructions
upper body strength to lift up to 50lbs continually
finger, hand and upper body dexterity to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture
ability to work with arms raised above head for extended periods
ability to maneuver fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50lbs

Job Duties

Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, sets up cleaning cart with supplies, constantly maintaining carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion to enhance efficiency and ease of cleaning rooms
cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways, often using ladders or stools to clean hard to reach areas
washes shower walls and tub, cleans toilet(s) and stall walls if applicable, wipes exposed pipes, cleans mirrors, sink(s) and walls
replaces towels, soaps and all room amenities and restocks literature
washes all hard floor areas by hand
dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures and wall hangings
strips bed of all linen and remakes with fresh, checking bedspread, blankets and bed pads for cleanliness
checks closet for cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies such as hangers, extra blankets and pillows
vacuums rooms, public areas and hallways, operating vacuums and moving heavy furniture
inspects all door and window locks and alerts management to unsecured or unsafe situations
inspects all room equipment to ensure proper working order and reports all maintenance deficiencies
secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys and supplies
maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times
performs other duties as assigned
