Job Description

This opportunity is with a reputable hotel renowned for its dedication to comfort, cleanliness, and exceptional guest service. The establishment is part of the hospitality industry, specializing in providing guests with a memorable and pleasant stay through its well-maintained rooms, facilities, and attentive staff. With a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer satisfaction, the hotel supports a dynamic work environment where team collaboration and individual responsibility are both valued.

The role of Room Attendant is a vital position within the hotel's housekeeping department. This position can be full-time or part-time, with schedules varying according to the facility's needs. Typically, Room Attendants have two breaks and a half-hour lunch during their shifts, with overtime opportunities being rare. The Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and readiness of areas used and frequented by guests, including guest rooms, bathrooms, lounges, lobbies, landings, elevators, stairways, kitchens, and locker rooms.

Primary responsibilities include cleaning various surfaces like cement, carpeted, tiled, or wood flooring, using equipment such as household-type vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, extendable wands, and cleaning supply pushcarts. Room Attendants wear employee uniforms as part of safety and work attire. The work environment is well-lit and temperature-controlled, although the attendant may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions when cleaning outdoor areas like landings. Duties extend beyond standard cleaning, including managing linens, replenishing guest supplies such as drinking glasses and writing materials, dusting furniture and equipment, polishing metalwork, washing windows and walls, emptying wastebaskets and ash trays, vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture, as well as scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.

The role may require manual tasks such as moving furniture, hanging drapery, rolling carpet, and replacing light bulbs. This position demands physical stamina and dexterity, including the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, twist, stoop, pull, and push work-related equipment such as loaded housekeeping carts over uneven surfaces. Effective communication skills are essential for following verbal instructions and interacting with team members and guests, ensuring high-quality service standards.

This hotel participates in the E-Verify program, ensuring employment eligibility by verifying employee information against federal records. The hotel values inclusiveness, providing opportunities for individuals with previous housekeeping experience as well as those new to the field. Training and support are provided to help employees succeed independently while managing time efficiently. This role is perfect for candidates seeking to contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests, thrive in a team-oriented atmosphere, and take pride in the upkeep of a well-maintained hotel.
