Job Description

Advocate Health is a nationally recognized nonprofit integrated health system that stands as the third-largest in the United States. Formed through the combination of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health, it operates under distinct regional names including Advocate Health Care in Illinois, Atrium Health in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama, and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Advocate Health serves nearly six million patients with an extensive network comprising 69 hospitals and over 1,000 care locations. This health system is widely known for its leadership in clinical innovation, delivering excellent health outcomes, enhancing consumer experiences, and pioneering value-based care models. It supports a broad spectrum of highly specialized medical fields such as cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, organ transplantation, burn treatment, and musculoskeletal programs.

Advocate Health also plays a pivotal role in medical education and research. The institution manages one of the nation's largest graduate medical education programs with over 2,000 residents and fellows participating in more than 200 advanced training programs. Furthermore, its partnership with Wake Forest University School of Medicine forms the academic core, fostering numerous clinical trials and research initiatives that continuously inform and improve patient care practices. Committed to community welfare, Advocate Health invests over 6 billion dollars annually in community benefits, emphasizing equitable health care access for all demographics.

The current opening is for a Part-Time Environmental Services team member within the BayCare Leased Employees department. This position is benefits eligible and carries a schedule of 20 hours per week, primarily covering shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM including every other weekend and some holidays. The pay range for this role falls between $18.85 and $28.30 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, skills, experience, and training.

The role of the Environmental Services team member is crucial for maintaining a sanitary and safe environment throughout the healthcare facility. Responsibilities encompass cleaning patient care areas, surgical spaces, restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, elevators, and stairwells to uphold high hygiene standards. The job entails handling various environmental surfaces such as ceilings, vents, walls, doors, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, and windows, and responding to emergency spill situations as required. The position involves dusting, damp mopping floors, replacing cubicle and window coverings, managing waste including recyclables, trash, and medically hazardous materials following strict infection control protocols.

Additionally, this role includes sorting, stocking, and delivering linens, gathering soiled linens for transportation, preparing dismissal and transfer units, distributing non-medical supplies, inventory management of cleaning and paper supplies, and maintaining housekeeping closets organized. The employee is expected to report mechanical failures or unsafe conditions promptly. The job does not require formal education, licensure or certification, and no prior experience is necessary, making this a great opportunity for those seeking entry into healthcare support roles. Essential skills include the ability to follow oral and written instructions, work independently, understand physical layouts, maintain operational smoothness without disruptions, adhere to departmental policies, basic computer proficiency, and strong customer service orientation.

Physical demands of the job include the ability to lift and carry various weights, push and pull with force, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, crawl, and stand or walk for extended periods. The incumbent must also handle equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops, buffers, scrubbers, and stepladders, and must comply with safety standards regarding exposure to chemicals, infectious waste, and proper use of protective clothing. Overall, this position is suitable for motivated individuals committed to promoting a clean and safe healthcare environment while receiving comprehensive support through robust benefits and career development opportunities offered by Advocate Health.
