The Hilton Garden Inn in Fort Washington is currently seeking a dedicated, experienced Director of Housekeeping to lead its housekeeping department with the same values that Baywood champions. This role is essential in ensuring that the hotel delivers cleanliness and maintenance standards that exceed guest expectations, thereby enhancing the overall guest experience. The position is a full-time management role, but specific salary details are to be discussed with qualified candidates.

The Director of Housekeeping is tasked with maintaining a high quality of service, overseeing daily operations of the housekeeping department to support and uphold the brand and Baywood’s established operational standards. This includes managing staff, coordinating with other hotel departments for seamless operations, controlling budgets, and enforcing company policies. The role also involves motivating and training the housekeeping team, conducting performance reviews, handling staffing schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Director must be a proactive communicator and a positive presence who embodies the Baywood Ambassador qualities. They are expected to actively participate in company safety initiatives and community programs, contributing positively to both the workplace and the local community. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English are preferred for this role, considering the geographic market's needs.

Physical demands of the role include frequent walking and standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, stooping, reaching, and occasional travel. The environmental conditions vary between indoor and moderate outdoor settings. Candidates should be comfortable operating standard office equipment and industry-specific software such as Property Management Systems (PMS), along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps for Work.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel experience
  • Minimum 1 year in hospitality management
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years hotel experience
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience with 1 year in hospitality management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Proficient in Google Apps for Work (Docs, Sheets, Mail, Calendar, Drive)

Job Duties

  • Interview, select, and train associates
  • Motivate staff through positive reinforcement and leading by example
  • Provide input during the preparation of the annual budget
  • Attend required meetings and training
  • Conduct departmental and other required meetings
  • Ensure established back-up and emergency procedures are in place
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures

  • Maintain professional image of associates
  • Monitor cleanliness and neatness of departments
  • Monitor inventory and place orders timely
  • Communicate with other departments for seamless operations

  • Conduct performance appraisals
  • Prepare weekly schedules and monitor payroll
  • Review departmental checklists and conduct audits
  • Monitor departmental expenses and payroll accuracy
  • Participate in safety initiatives and safety committee
  • Complete incident reports and notify parties
  • Perform Manager on Duty role as needed
  • Participate in company community service and fundraising events
