The role of Housekeeping Manager at Valley River Inn is designed for a dedicated hospitality professional with a strong background in managing cleaning operations in inns, hotels, or resorts. Job Requirements
- 3+ years experience in housekeeping management
- knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- ability to read and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations
- strong communication skills
- ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- ability to compute rates, ratios, discounts, interest and percentages
- ability to create a team environment within and across departments
- strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
- general management skills including time management and decision making
- financial management skills including budget and expense control
- people management skills including coaching and scheduling
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in a housekeeping management role at an inn, hotel, resort or equivalent
- working knowledge of all applicable laws, codes and regulations
- strong communication skills including writing contracts, reports, and business correspondence
- ability to present information and respond to questions from team members, managers, clients, and guests
- strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- strong general management skills such as time management, planning, organizing, decision making and problem solving
- strong financial management skills including budget management and expense control
- strong people management skills including coaching, motivating and scheduling
Job Duties
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department
- follows all appropriate policies and procedures such as key control and lost and found
- develops and implements procedures to ensure housekeeping activities and services meet or exceed established standards and goals
- conducts daily inspections of serviced guestrooms, front of house areas, storage rooms and relevant back of the house areas
- manages the departmental budget including monitoring revenue, expenses and labor costs
- reports all unsafe conditions immediately and ensures proper maintenance and use of equipment
- establishes and maintains department equipment and supply inventory levels
- advises guests, clients and team members on housekeeping matters
- selects, supervises trains, develops, schedules, disciplines and counsels staff
- provides timely formal assessment of individual team members
- maintains all safety standards and trains staff on safety procedures
- conducts training on job standards and areas of responsibility as needed
