Job Description
Sonesta International Hotels is a prominent player in the hospitality industry, recognized as the eighth largest hotel company in the United States and continuing its rapid growth trajectory. With a diverse portfolio that spans over 1000 properties across eight countries, Sonesta offers a dynamic blend of full-service and focused-service hotels situated in major cities. The company is driven by a genuine passion for hospitality, emphasizing the human side of service through meaningful guest interactions, purposeful loyalty, and memorable experiences that connect deeply with guests. This family of hotels thrives by delivering quality, value, and superb service in every guest stay, cultivating a culture that embodies the Sonesta mission – to wow every guest, team member, partner, and the communities they operate in. Beyond just lodging, Sonesta aims to create environments where guests feel welcomed and appreciated while ensuring associates are engaged and motivated by a work culture rooted in respect, communication, and excellence.
The role of Housekeeping Manager at Sonesta International Hotels is vital to maintaining the high standards that define the company’s brand. This leadership position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department to guarantee exceptional cleanliness, hygiene, and overall guest satisfaction. The Housekeeping Manager is responsible not only for supervising the housekeeping team but also for managing inventory controls related to linens and supplies, ensuring that operational expenses are wisely managed without compromising quality. A key part of this role is hands-on leadership to foster teamwork among housekeepers and coordination with other hotel departments such as the Front Office. The Housekeeping Manager also plays a pivotal role in responding to guest concerns promptly and professionally, reinforcing Sonesta’s commitment to superior guest service.
Operationally, the Housekeeping Manager conducts regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure adherence to company standards, safety requirements, and sanitation protocols. The role demands a balance of strategic planning and financial oversight, involving tasks like developing employee schedules based on labor forecasts and occupancy rates, managing departmental budgets, analyzing guest satisfaction metrics, and implementing performance improvements. Leadership is central to this position, with responsibilities that include recruiting, training, and developing the housekeeping team to foster engagement, accountability, and skill growth. The Housekeeping Manager is also expected to lead by example, maintaining a professional demeanor and supporting a workplace culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
This position requires flexibility, physical stamina, and a proactive mindset, as the Housekeeping Manager must be ready to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and respond to emergencies or operational challenges as needed. Ideal candidates will bring prior supervisory experience within the hospitality sector, specifically with a background in hotel housekeeping operations. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential, along with proficiency in relevant computer applications.
Sonesta International Hotels offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plans with company matching, paid vacation and sick days, educational assistance, and several other employee perks. The company is committed to equality and diversity in the workplace and encourages all qualified candidates to apply. Joining Sonesta means becoming part of a team that is passionate about exceeding expectations and dedicated to doing the right thing with integrity and respect.
