Job Description

NGIS Hawaii is a prominent division operating within the Navy Exchange Service Command, dedicated to providing quality hospitality services to military personnel and their families. Located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, NGIS Hawaii specializes in lodging solutions through properties such as the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge. These establishments are committed to offering guests a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment during their stay, reflecting the core values of the Navy and supporting service members’ well-being. With a focus on exceptional service standards and efficient operations, NGIS Hawaii plays an essential role in enhancing the quality of life for military communities through its management of lodging facilities that cater specifically to military needs and preferences.

The role of the Housekeeping Working Leader at NGIS Hawaii is pivotal in maintaining the high standards expected at Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge properties. As a working leader, the candidate will be responsible for leading a team of housekeeping attendants, ensuring that all cleaning and maintenance duties are performed to the highest standards. This position requires a hands-on approach, as the leader will actively participate in housekeeping tasks such as cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, laundry rooms, storage areas, and exterior spaces using various manual and powered cleaning equipment. The leader will be charged with supervising the team’s work, monitoring schedules, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with all program standards and policies.

With a starting pay of $27.38 per hour, this full-time position not only offers competitive compensation but also provides comprehensive federal employee benefits including medical and dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, paid annual and sick leave, a matching 401K plan, and pension benefits. The Housekeeping Working Leader plays a crucial role in guest relations by welcoming guests warmly and resolving any issues diligently and diplomatically. Furthermore, the leader ensures the security of storage areas, proper inventory management, and the availability of all necessary cleaning supplies and linens.

This position offers excellent career advancement opportunities within federal employment and requires dedication, attention to detail, and leadership skills to uphold the safety and cleanliness standards integral to military lodging facilities. It also demands flexibility, as the leader may be required to travel to other lodging facilities and assist during emergencies. This role is ideal for individuals aiming to build a meaningful career in hospitality with a focus on service to the military community, emphasizing leadership development, operational excellence, and continual professional growth.
