Job Description

The New Orleans Navy Gateway Inn and Suites, located in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, is a premier lodging facility dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality and accommodations to Navy personnel, their families, and authorized guests. Operated under the New Orleans Naval organization, this facility offers a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that reflects the high standards and values of the Navy. With a focus on comfort and convenience, the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites deliver quality lodging services tailored to meet the specific needs and expectations of military members and their guests. This establishment prioritizes guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and a supportive atmosphere for its team members, ensuring a positive experience for everyone who walks through its doors.

The position of a working leader at this Navy Gateway Inn and Suites involves a vital role in overseeing the housekeeping team to uphold the highest program standards. This full-time role, offering an attractive pay rate starting at $19.84 per hour, requires a proactive and hands-on approach to managing and participating in daily housekeeping activities. The working leader is responsible not only for leading and inspecting the performance of the housekeeping staff but also for actively engaging in the daily cleaning operations to maintain the cleanliness and safety of guest rooms, public spaces, laundry facilities, and exterior areas.

This role goes beyond routine housekeeping tasks by encompassing supervisory responsibilities such as training new associates, ensuring adherence to work schedules, and maintaining clear communication with supervisors about work progress and any challenges encountered. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership skills by effectively instructing team members on proper cleaning methods and procedures, ensuring the availability and correct use of cleaning supplies and linens, and maintaining inventory control through regular inspections and documentation.

Additional responsibilities include managing the security of items in storage areas, handling guest and staff feedback diplomatically, and upholding guest privacy and security at all times. The working leader may also be involved in the setup and breakdown of the self-service breakfast bar, requiring proper food handling certifications. This multifaceted role demands attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to creating a pristine and hospitable environment.

Working at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites means becoming part of a respected organization with a mission to support the Navy community. The role offers opportunities for professional development, including the potential to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment, along with other required certifications. This position may also require travel between different lodging facilities as part of the normal job scope and availability to assist in maintaining operations during emergencies or inclement weather.

In summary, the working leader at the New Orleans Navy Gateway Inn and Suites plays a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence through hands-on leadership in housekeeping. This position offers a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about hospitality, team leadership, and service within a military context. With a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to contribute to the comfort and well-being of Navy personnel, this role is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking a stable and meaningful job in hospitality management within a respected government entity.
