Job Description
Hyatt is a globally recognized hospitality company committed to creating welcoming experiences for guests around the world. The brand emphasizes the power of belonging, aiming to make every traveler feel at home wherever their journey takes them. Hyatt transforms trips into meaningful journeys, fosters memorable encounters, and cultivates rewarding careers for its employees. With a focus on connection, sustainability, and authenticity, the company believes hospitality is more than just a job—it's a calling for those who care deeply about guest experience and quality service.
This particular Hyatt property is ideally located in downtown Sacramento, California, positioned directly across the expansive and lush 40-acre California Capitol State Park. It offers guests a serene urban retreat enriched by proximity to popular attractions such as Capitol Mall, Crocker Art Museum, and Old Sacramento Waterfront. Surrounded by a vibrant neighborhood filled with restaurants, shopping venues, and nightlife, the hotel caters to leisure and business travelers alike. The hotel features a recently redesigned environment that includes an expansive resort-style pool deck and outdoor dining by a cozy fireplace, along with rooms offering striking city skyline views.
The Housekeeping Inspector role at this Hyatt location is crucial in maintaining and enhancing the quality and cleanliness of guest rooms to meet Hyatt's globally recognized brand standards. The position focuses on ensuring that departing and arriving guests receive an impeccable room experience every time they stay. This includes thoroughly inspecting guest rooms to confirm cleanliness, coaching Room Attendants on meeting cleanliness expectations, and supporting the overall cleanliness performance of the hotel. Given the high turnover and brief length of guest stays at the property, the Housekeeping Inspector helps sustain consistency, identify areas for improvement, and reinforce accountability among housekeeping staff.
The inspector takes special care to prioritize VIP and early arrival rooms to guarantee readiness for guest check-in. They play a key role in maintaining accurate room status updates in the hotel management system and communicate effectively with the Front Office to ensure smooth room availability. The inspector partners closely with Room Attendants, providing real-time feedback and coaching to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, while also identifying trends in room deficiencies and reporting these to leadership for corrective action.
In addition to inspection duties, the role supports quality initiatives such as self-inspection programs and audits, helps ensure proper stocking of linen closets and carts, and promptly reports maintenance issues through appropriate systems. The Housekeeping Inspector also assists with special projects like deep cleaning initiatives and steps in to help with room cleaning during periods of high demand, ensuring the team meets guest expectations around the clock.
This position requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively is essential, as is familiarity with hotel systems such as HotSOS and Opera. The role demands flexibility, including availability on weekends and holidays, and requires the physical stamina to perform duties involving standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing or pulling equipment over extended periods.
Compensation for this position is offered at an hourly rate of $23.14. Hyatt is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, ensuring all qualified candidates receive consideration regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
