The role of Room Attendant is a crucial position within the housekeeping department. Room Attendants are responsible for thorough cleaning of guestrooms according to set standards, managing guest and cleaning supplies efficiently, and ensuring all public areas and hallways are neat and presentable. The role demands physical stamina, as attendants are required to lift, carry, push, and pull various objects, as well as stand for the duration of their shifts.

In addition to cleaning responsibilities, Room Attendants must communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees, reporting any missing items or maintenance needs promptly to ensure smooth operation and quick resolution of issues. Part of the service aspect of this role includes handling lost and found items following established procedures. Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in hotel or related field preferred
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly and courteous demeanor
  • Service-oriented attitude

Job Duties

  • Thoroughly clean guestrooms according to standards
  • Complete all pre-cleaning duties including stocking guest supplies and cleaning supplies
  • Remove all trash and dirty linen from guestrooms and hallways
  • Keep hallways, public areas and closets clean, neat and vacuumed
  • Restock housekeeping cleaning cart for next day use
  • Replenish chemical bottles
  • Report all missing items and maintenance repairs to Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager
  • Handle lost and found items according to standards
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
