The role of Housekeeping EVS (Environmental Services) Associate at Banner Estrella Medical Center is a vital position within the facilities department, particularly for Environmental Services and Culinary categories. The nature of this job involves working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment, including a lot of walking and pushing of cleaning carts. The responsibilities may extend to specialized areas such as cleaning the morgue or units designated for infectious diseases like COVID-19. Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper handling of blood or bodily fluids, and adherence to safety protocols are critical components of the role. New hires must be prepared to complete onboarding promptly and comply with hospital policies such as drug screening, background checks, and mandatory annual flu vaccinations.

Compensation includes a $1000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, complemented by a flat rate weekend shift differential of $1.00 per hour when applicable. The position requires weekend and holiday rotations, emphasizing team collaboration and dedication to upholding the hospital's standards around the clock. Job Requirements

  • ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
  • ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills by phone and verbally
  • must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
  • must be able to fill out chemical identification stickers
  • willingness to complete onboarding in a timely manner
  • willingness to undergo background check and drug screening
  • willingness to receive annual flu vaccination

Job Qualifications

  • previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
  • additional related education or experience preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals
  • capacity to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • empty hampers and transports of soiled linen
  • empty trash containers and remove all trash including medical waste containers
  • inventory restock and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels and hand soap located in all assigned areas
  • maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and notify appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
  • perform special projects such as window washing wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • respond to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors
  • work under regular supervision and maintain responsibility at assigned facility or area
