The role of Environmental Services Team Associate at Banner University Medical Center Tucson is integral to ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment that enhances the overall patient experience. The position involves cleaning patient rooms and other assigned areas, following infection control and safety procedures to help maintain a healthy atmosphere for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. The successful candidate will perform varied cleaning duties such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing, contributing to the maintenance of a sanitized healthcare environment. This role requires working as part of a team to uphold the hospital's cleanliness standards while minimizing disruption to patients and others.

This full-time night shift role operates from 11 pm to 7:30 am, including weekend rotations and holiday work, with additional pay differentials for weekend and night shifts. New hires must complete an intensive two-week training schedule to become familiar with departmental policies, procedures, and equipment. The Environmental Services Team Associate also plays a key role in restocking supplies, managing waste including medical and sharps waste, maintaining cleaning equipment, and responding to the needs and inquiries of patients and hospital staff. This position demands strong communication skills, the ability to read and follow safety data sheets for cleaning chemicals, and the capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in environmental services and knowledge of cleaning equipment and techniques is preferred but not required. Job Requirements

  • Ability to complete chemical identification stickers
  • Must obtain and maintain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card if working in Behavioral Health or Olive Branch Senior Center
  • Willingness to work night shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Must attend mandatory training schedule
  • No exemptions from training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in environmental services or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Awareness of safety and infection control procedures

Job Duties

  • Perform assigned cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to policy
  • Empty hampers and transport soiled linen
  • Empty trash containers and remove all trash including medical waste and sharps
  • Inventory, restock and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap
  • Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and notify personnel of needed repairs
  • Perform special projects such as window and wall washing
  • Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors maintaining high customer service satisfaction
