Job Description

Banner Boswell Medical Center is a leading healthcare provider located in Sun City, Arizona, dedicated to delivering exceptional medical services to the northwest metro-Phoenix community. With over five decades of experience, this 410-bed acute-care hospital has earned national recognition from U.S. News and World Report as one of Arizona's Best Hospitals. The center offers a comprehensive range of acute care services, including cardiology, vascular, thoracic, oncology, orthopedics, neurology, general surgery, robotic surgery, rehabilitation, emergency care, stroke management, intensive care, pulmonary, urology, and inpatient wound management. Its commitment to quality is evident in accolades such as the Society of Thoracic Surgeons highest quality award for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and aortic valve replacement, as well as the Joint Commission's Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center. Banner Boswell Medical Center prides itself on fostering an environment where team members are valued, recognized as part of a Great Place To Work, and supported in their professional growth and well-being.

The Housekeeping Environmental Services (EVS) Associate role at Banner Boswell Medical Center is an essential position responsible for ensuring the hospital's environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff. This full-time evening shift position (3PM-11:30PM) involves physically demanding tasks such as walking extensively, pushing cleaning carts, and working in fast-paced conditions. Associates will conduct cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance duties, including specialized assignments like cleaning morgue areas or COVID-19 units when needed. Attention to safety is paramount because the role requires handling cleaning chemicals as well as materials potentially contaminated with blood or bodily fluids. The EVS associate plays a crucial part in maintaining the hospital's high standard of appearance and hygiene, which directly supports patient care outcomes and overall hospital operations.

The position includes a weekend and holiday rotation with an added weekend shift differential of $1 per hour and an 18% night shift differential when applicable. Team members are expected to comply with health and safety protocols including the completion of onboarding procedures in a timely manner and receiving an annual flu vaccine unless an exemption is arranged. Banner Health mandates background checks and drug screening as part of the hiring process to ensure a safe and trustworthy workforce.

As part of the environmental services team, the EVS associate performs a variety of cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, polishing, and replenishing supplies in patient rooms and other hospital areas. The role demands teamwork and effective communication skills to respond timely to requests and maintain minimal interference with hospital operations. Internal collaboration with facility staff, physicians, nurses, and management is frequent, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and customer service. This position does not require prior hospital or institutional experience but values familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning methods. The right candidate must be independent, reliable, and capable of interpreting and following verbal and written instructions, especially regarding the safe handling and use of cleaning agents.

Overall, this opportunity offers not only a meaningful career in healthcare environmental services but also the chance to contribute to a respected healthcare organization certified as a Great Place To Work. Individuals motivated to work in a dynamic and impactful role at Banner Boswell Medical Center are encouraged to apply and join a community committed to excellence in patient care, safety, and team member satisfaction.
