The Housekeeping Environmental Services (EVS) Associate role at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center offers a unique opportunity for individuals to contribute to the hospital's mission by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This full-time day shift position involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks in patient rooms and assigned hospital areas. The role requires physical activity, including walking, carrying, and pushing cleaning equipment throughout a fast-paced hospital environment. The associate will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing hospital spaces, handling biohazard materials such as blood and bodily fluids, and possibly working in specialty areas like the morgue or COVID-19 units.
Candidates do not need prior hospital or institutional experience to apply, as training and onboarding are provided. However, associates must be prepared for the physical demands and the use of cleaning chemicals in daily duties. Communication skills and teamwork are crucial, as the role involves coordinating with medical staff and other team members to ensure patient and staff safety and satisfaction. Job Requirements
- ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- compliance with background check and drug screen
- completion of onboarding in a timely manner
- receipt of annual flu vaccine
Job Qualifications
- previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred
- additional related education and or experience preferred
- ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
Job Duties
- performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- empties hampers and transports of soiled linen
- empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste containers and sharps
- inventories restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels hand soap etc located in all assigned areas
- maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
- may perform special projects such as window washing wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- responds to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors
- meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
