Banner Fort Collins Medical Center is a prominent full-service, acute-care hospital located in Fort Collins, Colorado, committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services to its community. As part of Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the country, this medical center offers a wide range of specialized medical and surgical services including emergency care, orthopedics, general surgery, women’s health, labor and delivery, gastroenterology, urology, pulmonology, and intensive care. The hospital’s extensive capabilities ensure that patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their specific health needs in a state-of-the-art environment. Banner Health is dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered, reflecting its commitment to high quality, safe, and equitable care for all patients.
This position is a full-time evening role on the environmental services team at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center, specifically designed for individuals passionate about contributing to the healthcare industry in a vital support capacity. The work shift is from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, including required weekend rotations, offering a flat rate $1.50 per hour weekend shift differential and an additional $5 per hour night shift differential when applicable. The role provides an excellent opportunity for entry into healthcare, with a salary range from $16.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
As an integral part of the environmental services team, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall patient experience by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the hospital. This involves performing a variety of cleaning duties such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing patient rooms and other assigned areas in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The role requires ensuring minimal disruption to patients, visitors, and staff while supporting the hospital’s mission of promoting healing through a well-maintained environment.
The position demands reliable teamwork, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining hospital cleanliness and hygiene. The environmental services staff are responsible for the inventory management of essential supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap, ensuring these are always stocked in assigned areas. Additionally, the role involves waste management duties including the proper disposal of soiled linen, trash, and medical waste like sharps, emphasizing safety and compliance with hygiene standards. Maintenance of department equipment is also an important aspect, with the employee expected to identify and report any equipment that requires repairs to maintain efficiency and safety.
More than just cleaning tasks, the environmental services team members are encouraged to respond courteously to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors, aiming to exceed expectations in delivering customer service satisfaction. This interaction fosters a positive environment that supports patient morale and staff productivity. Under regular supervision, the employee will operate within a defined area of the facility, coordinating effectively with internal stakeholders including medical and administrative staff, as well as external visitors.
Banner Fort Collins Medical Center is committed to inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that all team members contribute to an environment where everyone belongs. This role is key in fulfilling the hospital’s promise to the community by helping maintain a clean and safe healthcare setting, which is essential in delivering the highest level of care and fostering a faster recovery process for patients. The hospital also emphasizes policies to support a drug-free workplace and equal employment opportunity for all applicants, including veterans and individuals with disabilities, in alignment with their privacy guidelines and ethical standards.
