Job Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and verbally
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers
- Willingness to work evening shifts and weekend rotations
- Ability to maintain safety and health standards in a hospital environment
Job Qualifications
- Previous related experience preferred
- Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports soiled linen
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash including medical waste and sharps
- Inventories restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels and hand soap in assigned areas
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and reports repairs
- Performs special projects such as window washing wall washing and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- Responds to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors meeting or exceeding customer service goals
- Works under regular supervision and coordinates with internal and external customers
