Job Description
Banner Health is a prominent healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality health services across the western United States. Renowned for its patient-centered approach, Banner Health operates numerous hospitals and medical facilities, offering comprehensive care in various medical specialties. The Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, located in Glendale, Arizona, is one of Banner Health's flagship establishments. This medical center is a premier Level I Trauma center for adults and a tertiary care destination offering specialized services including surgery, oncology, cardiovascular care, neuroscience, orthopedics, pediatric care, and women and infant services. The center's dedication to excellence is reflected in its 5-star CMS rating and recognition as the Best of the Best in 2023 within the Banner Health network, showcasing a commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and patient-focused healthcare.
The Environmental Services (EVS) department at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Housekeeping EVS Associate position is a valued role within this department, responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and ensuring the facility's appearance is exemplary. This role is essential in infection control, patient safety, and creating an aesthetically pleasing environment that supports optimal patient outcomes. The position requires individuals who are hardworking, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Responsibilities include dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, trash removal, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleaning equipment.
Although experience in a hospital or institutional setting is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this an accessible opportunity for those seeking to start or advance a career in healthcare environmental services. The role involves working with cleaning chemicals and possibly in sensitive areas such as morgues or COVID-19 units, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with medical staff. This position operates on varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with an emphasis on teamwork, flexibility, and reliability. Staff in this role are required to complete onboarding promptly and comply with health and safety requirements, including annual flu vaccinations.
Registry/Per Diem employment status offers flexible scheduling but does not guarantee hours or a medical benefits package. Employees benefit from competitive wages, paid orientation, weekly pay, 403(b) pre-tax retirement plans, employee assistance and wellness programs, and various discounts. Working at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center provides an opportunity to be part of a nationally recognized team dedicated to excellence in healthcare delivery and environmental safety, contributing directly to patient care quality and hospital reputation.
