Job Requirements

  • Biohazardous waste certification obtained within six months of hire at certain care sites
  • ability to perform physical tasks including carrying, climbing, crawling, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking
  • regular attendance and punctuality
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
  • flexibility to work day or evening shifts
  • willingness to comply with hospital policies and Joint Commission standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning procedures and hygiene standards
  • ability to follow safety protocols including handling biohazardous waste
  • good physical stamina and manual dexterity
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • effective communication skills
  • commitment to supporting hospital mission and values

Job Duties

  • Clean patient rooms or dismissal units by disinfecting all surfaces, emptying trash, cleaning sinks, counters, showers and toilets, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restocking paper products, shampooing carpets
  • disinfect all public areas including sinks, toilets, walls, handrails, stairwells, replace blinds, shampoo carpets, buff or wax floors where needed
  • properly separate regular waste from biohazardous waste, dispose of needles, store clean and dirty linens correctly
  • clean ancillary areas using backpack vacuum, clean restrooms, dispose of trash, damp disinfect
  • dispose of sharps containers according to policy at designated care sites
  • promote mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare and abide by service behavior standards
  • perform other duties as assigned
