The Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeping) at Deaconess holds a crucial position responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety within the hospital. This full-time role involves detailed cleaning and disinfecting duties in various patient and operational areas, following strict infection control and PPE guidelines to prevent the spread of disease. The technician works directly in patient care zones, including those with isolation requirements for contact, droplet, and airborne precautions, ensuring that all cleaning processes comply with healthcare safety standards. Beyond cleaning, responsibilities include floor maintenance, window and wall cleaning, waste management, linen transport, and supply area organization. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to follow infection control and PPE protocols
Capability to work safely in environments with bodily fluids
Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience is a plus
Ability to follow detailed cleaning and disinfection protocols
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Good communication skills
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development

Job Duties

Clean and disinfect patient rooms and assigned areas following infection prevention standards
Follow PPE guidelines and healthcare safety protocols
Work safely in patient care areas requiring different levels of isolation precautions, including contact, droplet, and airborne precautions
Safely clean areas where exposure to bodily fluids and other healthcare-related materials may occur while following established safety procedures
Perform floor care, window and wall cleaning, waste removal, linen transport, and other housekeeping duties
Maintain organized supply areas and support department needs
Participate in team huddles, training, and continuous improvement efforts
Provide excellent service while demonstrating compassion and respect for patients, families, and coworkers
