The role being offered here is for a full-time Housekeeper who will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment for all YMCA members and visitors. The Housekeeper will be responsible for performing frontline cleaning duties, including operating cleaning machinery, monitoring and securing high-risk areas like locker rooms and bathrooms, and ensuring that all unused rooms and storage areas remain locked. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are critical in this role to ensure the well-being of both the staff and the community members who use the facilities.

In addition to daily cleaning tasks, the Housekeeper will monitor inventory levels of supplies, report maintenance issues promptly, and support the continuous improvement of the housekeeping processes. This individual will also be expected to comply with mandated abuse reporting requirements, attend safety and training programs, and support the organizational mission by fostering positive relationships with fellow staff members.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to perform close and distance vision tasks as required
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment

Job Qualifications

  • CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogen training is required within 60 days of employment
  • Child abuse prevention training is required before or on the first day of work

Job Duties

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth
  • Complete required abuse risk management training
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities
  • Ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked
  • Routinely monitor high-risk locations including locker rooms and bathrooms
  • Actively place the mission of the YMCA into action by fostering positive and productive relationships with branch staff
  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior and exterior of the YMCA looking clean and professional
  • Respond to light maintenance requests quickly and in a professional manner
  • Maintain inventory levels to maintain efficiency and sustain cleaning operations
  • Adhere to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone
  • Participate in safety and training programs as identified by the YMCA
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by building and grounds director
  • Assist with preparation for inclement weather
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
