The hiring establishment is a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property located in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role, the housekeeper regularly performs a comprehensive range and scope of housekeeping services across guest rooms, interior public areas, storage spaces, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces. Responsibilities include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving furniture, polishing, cleaning, trash removal, and handling linens and towels using both hand and powered cleaning equipment. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to established program standards to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

The housekeeper’s duties extend beyond typical cleaning to include maintaining room functionality by ensuring items such as TVs, alarm clocks, phones, and lighting are clean and properly programmed. Job Requirements

  • Required to complete safety and security training
  • May need a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities
  • Must obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment
  • Ability to work part-time hours (20-34.5 hours per week)
  • Must be willing to obtain proper food handling certification if assigned breakfast bar duties

Job Duties

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas
  • Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, and polisher
  • Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture
  • Washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories
  • Washes and replaces window treatments and cleans ceiling fixtures
  • Changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds
  • Moves furniture to clean under and behind, uses step stool to clean window treatments, cabinet tops, mirrors, and picture frames
  • Cleans bathroom and kitchen areas including tub, tile walls, commode, floors, stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, and floors
  • Washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware
  • Cleans iron and ironing board and replaces covers as necessary
  • Maintains functionality of luggage racks, ensures availability of hangers
  • Ensures TVs, alarm clocks, and in-room phones are clean, programmed, and working
  • Places proper number of amenities in rooms including consumables and non-consumables
  • Removes and replaces bed linens, inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas
  • Moves and repositions beds upon guest checkout or request
  • Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations
  • Ensures guest privacy and security at all times
  • Cleans, vacuums, and mops corridors, stairways, laundry areas, patios, balconies
  • Shampoos rugs and carpets, polishes stairway rails regularly
  • Completes scheduled carpet cleaning with industrial equipment
  • Performs deep cleaning as required by program standards
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms
  • Communicates room status and cleaning completion to supervisor
  • Performs minor repairs and reports major equipment issues
  • Cleans and inspects exterior spaces like parking lots
  • Loads and unloads supply deliveries
  • Uses hand tools for equipment and supply handling
  • Manages pass keys and other keys and returns them at shift end
  • Reports unusual circumstances and lost and found items immediately
  • Sets up and breaks down self-service breakfast bar
  • Assists with breakfast item preparation and replenishment
  • Obtains proper food handling certification
  • Completes all required safety and security training
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment
  • Applies knowledge of blood-borne pathogen safety
  • Adheres to NHG protocols during service activities
  • Performs laundry operations
  • May travel to other lodging facilities as required
