This job opening is for a Custodian position at the Long-Term Care Facility within the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. This role is an hourly, non-supervisory position with an hourly wage ranging from $18.44 to $23.78. The custodian will be responsible for delivering comprehensive cleaning and sanitizing services throughout the facility. This involves performing various duties to ensure that offices, corridors, resident rooms, public bathrooms, and general areas are kept hygienic and free of contaminants that could contribute to the spread of infection. A key component of this role includes maintaining high standards of cleanliness because of the sensitive nature of the healthcare environment where patient health and safety are paramount.
The custodian will use a wide range of manual and mechanical cleaning equipment, including vacuums, mops, buffers, ladders, and scaffolding tools, to perform their tasks. They will also manage housekeeping supplies and ensure that they are adequately stocked throughout the building. Cleaning responsibilities include mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning furniture and equipment, washing light fixtures, changing drapes and rugs, disinfecting bathrooms, and properly disposing of refuse. The nature of the work may occasionally require moving furniture and equipment to facilitate thorough cleaning.

Job Duties
- vacuums sweeps mops and buffs corridors stairs stairwells walls furniture and equipment
- uses extension pole ladder and scaffolds while cleaning walls washing light fixtures changing drapes or other activities
- shampoos and changes rugs when necessary
- cleans resident rooms when assigned requiring a high degree of cleanliness to minimize possible spread of infection
- gathers and disposes refuse as directed
- cleans public and resident-use bathrooms scouring sinks wet mopping floors disinfecting toilet bowl wiping down all surfaces and replenishing necessary supplies
- moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks
- maintains supply rooms for housekeeping throughout the building
- uses a variety of manual and mechanical equipment
