The Housekeeper role at Creative Discovery Museum is a full-time, hourly position compensated at $14.50 per hour. This position is essential in maintaining the museum’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all public, staff, and back-of-house areas. Housekeepers play a vital role in supporting safe and welcoming guest experiences by performing routine cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the museum. Their responsibilities include cleaning exhibit galleries, restrooms, offices, break rooms, and other designated areas to ensure the museum remains a pristine and inviting space for visitors.

Working under the supervision of the Facilities and Maintenance Director and training alongside the Housekeeping Technician, Housekeepers at CDM are expected to follow established procedures and contribute as reliable team players within a highly public and family-focused environment. Because weekends are peak visitation days for the museum, regular weekend availability is required, along with occasional holiday shifts based on operational needs.

In this role, attention to detail and pride in the quality of work are paramount. Housekeepers must be adept at using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, following posted procedures, and responding promptly and professionally to both guest needs and internal service requests. Maintaining professional communication and a welcoming presence is equally important, as Housekeepers help shape the overall visitor experience in a highly visible capacity.

Candidates for this position should possess basic knowledge of cleaning methods, tools, and supplies, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential, alongside the capacity to adapt in a fast-paced public environment. While prior custodial or cleaning experience and a high school diploma or GED are preferred, they are not mandatory, as training and guidance are provided.

Physical demands for this role include the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted, frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional ladder use. The work environment includes public spaces, offices, exhibit galleries, and back-of-house areas, with exposure to wet or slippery surfaces and cleaning chemicals.
