This position is within the Environmental Services department at the Santa Rosa Hospital, specifically at the Advanced Care At Home location in Santa Rosa, California. The role is designed as a standard, regular employment opportunity with an entry-level job classification. The work schedule is a night shift, starting at 12:00 AM and ending at 8:30 AM every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, with a call-in/on-call job schedule structure. It falls under the Facility Services and Materials Management job category, with no travel required. The employee group affiliation is with SEIU and the United Healthcare Workers West union.

The role of Environmental Services Worker is essential in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and sanitary conditions of the medical center environment. Under direct supervision, the individual will clean and maintain assigned areas, perform various environmental services duties, and utilize specialized cleaning equipment effectively. The position demands thorough attention to detail to uphold hospital standards in patient and auxiliary areas. Duties include cleaning restrooms, discharge beds, woodwork, horizontal surfaces, furniture, glass, walls, floors, and affixed items using standard cleaning products. The worker will also be responsible for replenishing hygiene supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, plastic liners, paper cups, and seat covers.

In addition to routine cleaning, the Environmental Services Worker must operate and maintain equipment including wet mop units, dust mops, back vacuums, automatic floor scrubbers, shampoo machines, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, floor buffers, wall washers, utility carts, sanipacs, compactors, and balers. These tasks ensure that all patient and auxiliary areas—including medication rooms, nursing stations, treatment rooms, waiting rooms, lobbies, elevators, water fountains, ice machines, and telephones—are kept in pristine condition. Safety procedures must be strictly followed, including proper disposal of sharp objects in designated containers and adherence to established lifting techniques and body mechanics.

The position requires moderate to heavy physical activity, including the ability to handle lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying items weighing 25 lbs, and pushing carts weighing as much as 200 lbs. The role also demands frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and standing for extended periods. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively understand and execute assigned duties and coordinate with other team members. Experience with floor machinery and cleaning equipment operation is crucial to performing the job efficiently.
