The Environmental Services team at Saint Mary's Hospital plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment essential for patient care and overall hospital functionality. This Full-time Evening Shift position focuses on performing repetitive cleaning tasks according to established procedures to ensure that assigned hospital areas are orderly and sanitized. The role involves moving furniture, equipment, and supplies within hospital departments and performing both heavy and light housekeeping duties.
The person in this role will utilize several cleaning techniques including the Seven-Step cleaning method, wet and dry mopping of floors, stripping and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, and removing stains from floors, walls, furniture, and other surfaces. The position demands physical capability to move up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and safely handle cleaning chemicals and machinery. Responsibilities also include maintaining sanitation equipment, restocking supplies, and ensuring a clean and safe environment through tasks such as disinfecting fixtures, cleaning patient rooms after dismissal, waste collection and disposal, and preparing beds with fresh linens.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English
- must communicate verbally in English
- minimum 3 months cleaning experience preferred
- ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
- capable of performing repetitive motions such as sweeping and mopping
- knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety
- ability to follow safety procedures and wear PPE when required
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions in English
- verbal communication skills in English
- preferred 3+ months cleaning experience in healthcare
- analytical ability to understand instructions and perform basic math

Job Duties
- Receives cleaning assignments and requests cleaning materials
- mixes cleaning solutions and loads service carts
- cleans assigned areas using germicidal solutions
- scours and polishes sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors
- strips, cleans and makes beds with fresh linens upon patient dismissal
- disposes of refuse and restocks supplies
- sweeps, mops, vacuums and spot cleans floors and carpets
- operates buffing and mechanical cleaning equipment
- cleans and maintains sanitation equipment
- visually inspects area post-cleaning
- returns unused supplies and ensures orderly storage
- performs heavy-duty floor and carpet cleaning
- washes, scrubs, and disinfects walls, windows, doors
- gathers and transports refuse
- moves furniture and equipment using carts or dollies
