Job Description
The hiring establishment is a healthcare facility focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This organization operates with a commitment to upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene that directly impact the well-being and comfort of everyone who interacts with the facility. As a healthcare provider, ensuring a sanitary environment is crucial not only for aesthetic purposes but also to prevent infections and promote recovery. The company fosters a culture that values diligence, attention to detail, and responsiveness to the needs of its community within a safe working environment.
The role of the Cleaner in this healthcare setting is vital to maintaining these standards. Under indirect supervision, the Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned areas to ensure safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees. The position involves a wide range of cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming carpets, and disinfecting surfaces and plumbing fixtures. The Cleaner will also handle the collection and disposal of refuse, including hazardous and infectious waste, adhering strictly to safety protocols for sanitation and environmental responsibility.
This role requires proficiency in using various cleaning chemicals and equipment such as buffing machines and carpet shampooers, always following the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure effective and safe cleaning. Additionally, Cleaners are expected to prepare discharge units, arrange beds, maintain stock of disposable items like paper towels and soap, and report any supply needs or repairs to supervisors. The position demands physical endurance to move furniture and equipment as needed and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Beyond the physical tasks, the Cleaner is expected to demonstrate qualities essential to working in a sensitive environment such as cultural awareness and the ability to perform assigned duties with minimal interference to others. The Cleaner acts as an integral part of the healthcare team, contributing to the overall patient experience by ensuring the environment supports rapid recovery and comfort. This is a role that requires a commitment to consistency, reliability, and attention to detail, with a strong emphasis on safety and health standards.
Employment terms typically involve part-time or full-time hours depending on the operational requirements of the facility, with competitive wages aligned with industry standards for healthcare support roles. The position offers opportunities for anyone interested in supporting healthcare through essential facility services, providing a stable employment pathway with on-the-job training and development.
