Job Description
The facility is committed to providing high-quality living and care environments for residents across multiple levels of assistance, including Skilled Nursing Care, Assisted Living, and Independent Living. We are currently hiring for four full-time Housekeeping Aide positions within our diverse care units, which include two openings in the Skilled Nursing Care unit, one in the Assisted Living unit, and another in the Independent Living section. These full-time positions involve approximately 37.5 hours per week with overtime opportunities as needed. Working under the close supervision of the Director of Housekeeping, the Housekeeping Aide plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for both residents and staff. The role requires performing a variety of assigned housekeeping tasks efficiently and thoroughly, thereby supporting the healthcare teams and contributing to the overall wellbeing of the facility's community.
As a Housekeeping Aide, employees are entrusted with responsibilities that range from routine cleaning operations to emergency cleaning and equipment maintenance. The position demands keen attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to follow established policies and protocols related to cleanliness and infection control. Duties include cleaning floors, furnishing, fixtures, and bathrooms, as well as inspecting and maintaining appliances like refrigerators. Housekeeping Aides are also expected to manage their supplies and equipment responsibly and participate actively in training programs designed to uphold high standards of safety and hygiene.
This role offers a dynamic work environment inside the facility where adequate lighting and ventilation support the delivery of daily tasks. Given the healthcare setting, individuals in this position may occasionally encounter exposure to chemicals, blood, and body fluids, thereby emphasizing the need for adherence to safety and infection control measures. Additionally, the role requires physical capabilities such as the ability to stand, stoop, reach for extended periods, and handle lifting and pushing of weights that are typical of housekeeping tasks.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive and pleasant attitude, consistently treating residents with respect and courtesy. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to understand and execute tasks effectively throughout the eight-hour shifts. Importantly, the role involves emergency preparedness, requiring employees to respond competently to fire alarms and other safety events to ensure the wellbeing of residents and colleagues.

Job Requirements
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Adhere to departmental dress code
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Able to stand, stoop and reach for extended periods of time
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Able to push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Able to remember verbal and written tasks for an 8 hour shift
- Able to concentrate on minimal detail with some interruptions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles preferred
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and mops
- Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment
Job Duties
- Perform daily/scheduled housekeeping assignments throughout the facility following established policies and procedures
- Clean assigned areas, furnishings and fixtures including dry/wet mop, sweep and disinfect floors
- Dust, spot clean, wash, disinfect and polish movable and stationary furnishings/fixtures including handrails, ledges, shelves and vents
- Empty and clean ash trays and waste cans
- Vacuum
- Clean and inspect refrigerators daily for temperatures and defrosting
- Clean and disinfect resident and public bathrooms including fixtures, tile, floors, walls, toilets, tubs, showers, windows, mirrors and sinks
- Replenish bathroom supplies
- Work effectively with residents, staff and supervisors
- Properly maintain supplies and equipment notifying supervisor of needs/malfunctions
- Clean equipment daily
- Maintain clean/sanitary conditions in assigned areas following disinfecting techniques and infection control policies
- Attend in-service training
- Operate equipment (vacuum) with minimal supervision
- Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude
- Treat residents with respect and courtesy
- Notify supervisor when appliances need repair
- Perform emergency cleaning when accidents occur
- Help out in laundry as required
