Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • Willingness to undergo drug screening prior to appointment
  • Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Completion of online onboarding and presentation of acceptable identification
  • Commitment to a one-year probationary period
  • Ability to work multiple shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to perform continuous physical activity and handle heavy powered equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties of this position
  • Ability to safely operate powered cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemical usage and safety protocols
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, standing, and handling heavy equipment
  • Experience in janitorial or custodial services in healthcare or similar environments is beneficial
  • Detailed documentation of work experience including job titles and hours worked
  • Must meet the Office of Personnel Management Federal Wage System Qualification Standards

Job Duties

  • Use powered cleaning equipment for proper and efficient cleaning of floors, walls, and fixtures
  • Use cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines to sanitize and disinfect
  • Make beds, change linens, and manage linen collection and distribution
  • Remove, transport, repackage, dispose, and store general, medical, chemotherapeutic, and radioactive waste
  • Check and replenish consumable supplies such as soap, hand towels, and gloves
  • Remove and safely handle sharps, replacing filled sharps containers
  • Perform cleaning duties in patient and non-patient care areas across multiple shifts
