Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
- Selective Services Registration for males born after 12/31/1959
- Completion of online onboarding process with acceptable identification
- Pre-employment physical required
- Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program
- Completion of 1-year probationary period
- Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing
- Capability to operate 30-100 pound powered cleaning equipment
- Willingness to comply with safety and infection control procedures
- Ability to work full-time shifts including rotating federal holidays
- Effective use of personal protective equipment
- No educational substitution
- Compliance with federal employment regulations
- Submission of required documentation for application process
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to perform cleaning and custodial tasks
- Experience with floor maintenance and use of powered cleaning equipment
- Ability to follow safety protocols in healthcare environments
- Knowledge of disinfecting and sanitizing procedures
- Experience managing inventory of cleaning and textile supplies
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good physical dexterity and stamina to perform demanding tasks
- Basic understanding of handling medical waste and biohazards
- Effective communication skills
- Experience in patient care facility cleaning environments preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Executes a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas
- Performs floor maintenance and wall washing
- Cleans doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells
- Utilizes pressure washers and heavy industrial powered and battery operated equipment periodically
- Adjusts, cleans, and performs minor maintenance on cleaning equipment and changes attachments as necessary
- Empties trash and wastebaskets, replaces liners
- Transports general refuse, regulated medical waste, and recycling to central collection areas
- Cleans restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms ensuring they meet acceptable standards
- Replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap
- Moves and arranges furniture, patient wardrobes, and beds to facilitate cleaning
- Provides bed-making services in patient care areas and cleans mattresses, springs, and bed frames
- Handles and transports soiled textiles and restocks clean textiles, participating in inventory management
- Cleans and defrosts patient care refrigerators and ice machines
- Cleans stainless steel storage instrument cabinets, counters, elevators, and designated smoking areas
- Cleans windows, window ledges, glass surfaces, and replaces curtains and blinds
- Cleans and replaces needle boxes
- Cleans specific non-critical reusable medical equipment in inpatient and clinical areas
- May provide guidance to Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) worker
- Performs other duties as assigned
