As a Houseperson, the incumbent will be a key member of the housekeeping and guest services team, ensuring the presentation of the hotel aligns with its reputable standards. This position focuses on maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments by executing a wide range of cleaning, stocking, laundry, and maintenance duties. The role demands a person with excellent guest relation skills, capable of managing guest inquiries sensitively and efficiently, and proactive in resolving issues to maintain high guest satisfaction. The Houseperson is tasked with supporting both the housekeeping team and guests by delivering requested items such as towels, cribs, and cots, and maintaining common areas including elevators, pools, and hallways. Adherence to OSHA guidelines in chemical usage and equipment operation is crucial, as is maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. \n\nThe responsibilities also extend to ensuring safety procedures are followed during emergencies to protect guests, associates, and the physical infrastructure. The hotel seeks an individual with the physical capability to handle the demands of lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment, often under varying environmental conditions. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- able to lift and transport at least 25 pounds
- able to push and pull carts or equipment up to 100 pounds
- able to endure physical movements throughout work areas
- able to work under variable temperature and noise conditions
- able to stand and maintain mobility for long periods
- able to reach above head and shoulder height
- willing to work in indoor and outdoor hotel areas
- able to follow OSHA and safety compliance standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior housekeeping or hospitality experience preferred
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to work effectively in a team environment
- basic knowledge of local attractions and guest services
- knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
- competence in equipment use related to housekeeping
- physical capability to lift and move heavy objects
- attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction
- proficiency in handling cleaning chemicals safely
Job Duties
- Maintain positive guest relations and guest confidentiality
- resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction
- communicate effectively with guests and team members
- maintain knowledge of hotel services, room rates, promotions, house count, arrivals/departures, and group activities
- follow correct maintenance and use of equipment
- use chemicals adhering to OSHA regulations
- complete daily reports as instructed
- stock linen room with supplies
- empty linen from housekeeping carts
- sweep and mop areas near elevators
- clean trash cans and elevator tracks
- maintain pool areas and clean pool windows and bathrooms daily
- clean ice and soda machines on all floors
- dust light fixtures in hallways
- clean rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture
- wash walls and ceilings
- move furniture and turn mattresses
- remove dirty linen from laundry chutes and hallways
- pick up trash from all floors after room attendants finish
- deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to guest rooms upon request
- turn in lost and found items to supervisor
- aid co-workers and guests as needed
- notify supervisor of guest complaints or comments
- remain in plain view and not enter guestrooms unless supervised
- be familiar with local attractions to answer guest inquiries
- assist in handling emergencies
- know and abide by all department, company and brand policies and procedures
