We are currently seeking friendly and compassionate individuals to join our housekeeping team at UMMC. This role is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards necessary for a hospital environment, helping create a safe, clean, and comfortable space for patients, visitors, and staff alike. As a Hospital Housekeeper, you will be responsible for cleaning assigned hospital areas, including patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and more, following rigorous health and safety protocols established by the hospital and public health authorities. This is an hourly position offering $13.00 per hour with flexible scheduling options including day, evening, and night shifts, designed to accommodate both full-time and part-time employment.

The Housekeeper position requires physical stamina and attention to detail, as it involves continuous standing, walking, bending, and handling cleaning equipment and chemicals to ensure every assigned area meets the highest standards of cleanliness. Successful candidates will contribute significantly to patient wellbeing by maintaining an environment where healing is promoted. Additionally, the role demands strong teamwork, communication skills, and a customer-service mindset to assist patients and support hospital staff effectively.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Background check drug screen and proof of employment eligibility required
  • Ability to stand walk squat bend twist kneel and reach continuously throughout a shift
  • Ability to push and pull carts or equipment over 100 lb on tile and carpeted floors continuously
  • Must handle chemicals including bleach wax and disinfectants
  • Must be able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
  • Must practice good personal hygiene be neatly groomed and be in uniform
  • Preferred housekeeping experience including cleaning environmental services custodian janitorial room attendant floor care technician hotel operations healthcare

Job Duties

  • Clean assigned areas of the hospital including patient rooms common areas restrooms and more
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas
  • Follow all HHS cleaning procedures and best practices
  • Provide friendly and kind service to all individuals in the hospital
  • Assist team members and management as needed to help the department operate efficiently
