The role of Housekeeper/Janitor is pivotal to maintaining the upkeep of the assigned properties. This position requires advanced cleaning skills, visual inspections of cleaned areas, and the ability to handle both interior and exterior maintenance tasks. Responsibilities extend beyond basic cleaning duties to include handling hazardous cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with OSHA requirements, managing inventory levels of cleaning supplies, and operating various cleaning equipment following established safety protocols. The Housekeeper/Janitor must keep all assigned areas sanitary and presentable by performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, window cleaning, and restroom maintenance. The role demands physical stamina to work for extended periods, sometimes in challenging environments, and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely. The Housekeeper/Janitor is expected to demonstrate a friendly and professional attitude to both residents and staff and adhere strictly to security and safety procedures at all times.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Multiple language fluency is desirable
  • Strong customer service skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations for cleaning chemicals

Job Duties

  • Perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, trash disposal, replacing light bulbs, and window cleaning
  • Inform supervisor of needed supplies
  • Maintain all cleaning solutions in accordance with OSHA requirements for hazardous chemicals
  • Remove trash from premises and assist in emergency cleaning
  • Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures
  • Maintain friendly and professional attitude
  • Inspect assigned areas daily and report cleaning and maintenance discrepancies to supervisor
  • Ensure security procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing work
  • Complete daily work orders as scheduled
  • Maintain the appropriate level of sanitary and cleaning supplies for assigned areas
  • Keep assigned equipment in good working condition
  • Clean restrooms including sweeping, mopping, refilling dispensers, cleaning toilets and sinks, emptying trash
  • Report any discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely manner
  • Climb ladders and work at heights up to 3 feet
