The Housekeeping Houseperson at Holiday Inn Express is a vital member of the housekeeping team responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in guest corridors, elevators, and other assigned hotel areas. This role not only requires physical stamina and attention to detail but also the ability to interact cordially with guests and fellow employees. The Houseperson's duties include delivering various items such as luggage, irons, and coffee to guest rooms, which contributes to the overall guest experience by providing timely and helpful service. This position requires adherence to hotel policies and standards set by Expotel Hospitality Service to ensure smooth operation and safety within the hotel. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor, which helps promote a positive atmosphere for guests and staff alike. The Houseperson also assists with minor cleaning tasks and supports the housekeeping team by picking up dirty linens and trash, vacuuming corridors, and reporting maintenance issues promptly.

The Houseperson must be able to stand throughout their shift and work efficiently in high-pressure and fast-paced situations. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
experience in hotel or related field preferred
valid driver’s license for applicable state as required
ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, 20 pounds constantly
ability to stand for entire shift
flexible and long working hours sometimes required
strong communication skills
ability to work effectively under pressure
adherence to safety standards and procedures

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
experience in a hotel or related field preferred
valid driver’s license for the applicable state (property specific)
ability to convey information and ideas clearly
ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
able to work well under stressful, high-pressure situations
maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
familiarity with guestroom cleaning procedures advantageous

Job Duties

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, service-oriented manner
maintain regular attendance in compliance with Expotel Hospitality Service standards as required by scheduling
maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working
comply at all times with Expotel Hospitality Service standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees
walk assigned floors at beginning and end of shift, remove newspapers, trays, empty ash urns, remove trash and/or linens and note any areas that need immediate cleaning
use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other employees
use daily checklist to complete projects listed below as assigned including elevator lobbies, ash urns, glass tables, furniture, ice machines/vending machines, elevator doors/frames, service landing/linen closets, stair wells, polish floors, and other projects as assigned by management
practice safe work habits to ensure safety to guests, fellow employees and self
handle items for “Lost and Found” according to hotel standards
at the end of the shift, turn in all keys and assignment sheets to the Housekeeping Office
report maintenance issues to Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager
be familiar with correct guestroom cleaning procedures to assist with cleaning if needed
pick up any Room Attendant’s dirty linen or trash as needed
before leaving section, collect all trash from the service landings and dispose in outside trash dumpsters per hotel procedures
vacuum guest corridors
assist Housekeeping as needed including bedboards, roll-aways, flip beds, etc
