Job Description

This opportunity is with a reputable full-service hotel known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and maintaining high operational standards in hospitality. The hotel is currently seeking a full-time Housekeeper to join its dedicated Housekeeping Department, offering a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, critical and accident insurance, paid time off, and hotel discounts, with benefits commencing 30 days after hiring.

The Housekeeper role is an essential part of the hotel team, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of guest rooms and public areas. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of hotel operating procedures, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to guest satisfaction. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms, replenishing supplies and amenities, inspecting rooms to ensure they meet standards before guest arrival, and addressing and reporting maintenance issues promptly. The role requires the ability to handle guest requests swiftly and to address complaints effectively, promoting goodwill by being courteous, friendly, and helpful to both guests and colleagues.

In addition to servicing rooms according to established procedures and timelines, the Housekeeper will clean furnishings such as televisions, desks, lamps, and window ledges, maintaining orderly and safe cleaning supplies and carts. Adherence to uniform and name tag policies, respect for guest privacy, and the ability to work flexible hours are integral aspects of the position. The role also requires occasional deep cleaning assignments, laundry duties, and ensuring public areas are kept clean and inviting. Candidates must possess the physical ability to perform tasks that involve pushing, pulling, bending, lifting up to 40 pounds, and standing or walking for extended periods, while also tolerating exposure to varying temperatures and cleaning chemicals.

This position typically calls for applicants who have at least a high school education, with prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of operating laundry room equipment is a plus. Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school education
  • Prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred
  • Knowledge of operating laundry room dryers and washers desired but not required
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and reach upwards
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness
  • Willing to work flexible hours

Job Duties

  • Have a good understanding of all of hotels operating procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of rooms types and standards for supplies
  • Check the general condition of the room and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor of any malfunction or damage
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, replenish supplies and amenities, inspect and report rooms ready for sale to the front desk all in accordance with hotel’s training and standards
  • Dust and clean all furnishings in guest room including the television, desk, desk chair, desk lamp/shade, air conditioner unit, head boards, night stand, wall picture, wall lamp/shade and window ledge
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and the cleaning cart in safe, organized and presentable fashion
  • Ensure prompt and systematic servicing of all guest requests
  • Handle guest complaints effectively
  • Promote goodwill by being courteous, friendly and helpful to guests, managers and all other associates
  • Team work
  • Organization and thoroughness: preparing bedrooms in the specified length of time whilst respecting internal hotel procedures
  • No service rooms must be approved by inspector or front desk
  • Must wear uniform and nametag
  • Must follow all policies and emergency procedures of the hotel
  • Discretion: not disturbing guests
  • Laundry and public area cleaning
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness
