Job Description

The position available is for a full-time Housekeeper, a vital role within the Housekeeping Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of guest rooms and public areas, contributing directly to the guests' comfort and satisfaction. This role requires a strong attention to detail, adherence to hotel standards, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.

As a Housekeeper, you will be expected to thoroughly clean and sanitize guest rooms, replenish supplies and amenities, and ensure rooms are inspected and ready for sale according to the hotel's training and standards. Beyond routine cleaning, the role involves dusting and cleaning all furnishings in the guest rooms including televisions, desks, lamps, air conditioning units, headboards, nightstands, wall fixtures, and window ledges. You will also be expected to maintain cleaning supplies and carts in an organized, safe, and presentable manner.

Effective communication and guest service skills are essential, as you will need to handle guest complaints with professionalism and courtesy, promote goodwill by offering friendly and helpful service, and work collaboratively with managers and other staff members. The position requires wearing a uniform and nametag and following all hotel policies and emergency procedures.

The Housekeeper will also support the hotel's mission, values, and vision by embracing these standards in daily work practices. This includes respecting guests' privacy and discretion, efficiently preparing bedrooms while following internal procedures, and performing deep cleaning tasks when assigned. Flexibility in work hours is necessary to meet the operational needs of the department.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school education
  • Prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and reach upwards
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness
  • Must follow all policies and emergency procedures of the hotel
  • Willing to work flexible hours

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum high school education
  • Prior housekeeping or hotel experience preferred
  • Prior knowledge of operating laundry room dryers and washers desired but not required

Job Duties

  • Have a good understanding of all of hotels operating procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of rooms types and standards for supplies
  • Check the general condition of the room and notify the Housekeeping Supervisor of any malfunction or damage
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, replenish supplies and amenities, inspect and report rooms ready for sale to the front desk all in accordance with hotel’s training and standards
  • Dust and clean all furnishings in guest room including the television, desk, desk chair, desk lamp/shade, air conditioner unit, head boards, night stand, wall picture, wall lamp/shade and window ledge
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and the cleaning cart in safe, organized and presentable fashion
  • Ensure prompt and systematic servicing of all guest requests
  • Handle guest complaints effectively
  • Promote goodwill by being courteous, friendly and helpful to guests, managers and all other associates
  • Team work
  • Organization and thoroughness: preparing bedrooms in the specified length of time whilst respecting internal hotel procedures
  • No service rooms must be approved by inspector or front desk
  • Must wear uniform and nametag
  • Must follow all policies and emergency procedures of the hotel
  • Discretion: not disturbing guests
  • Laundry and public area cleaning
