This position is for a Housekeeper on the 3rd shift at a large hospital facility in Washington, DC. The Housekeeper will work during the overnight hours from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., playing a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment essential for patient care and hospital operations. The role is contract-to-hire, offering the potential for permanent employment based on attendance, performance, and attitude. The hourly pay rate for this role is $17.50. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive housekeeping services throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, discharge areas, hallways, bathrooms, and administrative offices. Duties include changing linens, making beds, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing high-touch surfaces, and disposing of waste in compliance with infection control standards and hospital policies. The role demands attention to detail, a commitment to cleanliness, and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints, especially cleaning each room within 30 to 45 minutes.
Working in a hospital setting requires the housekeeper to be comfortable with exposure to medical equipment and various odors associated with healthcare environments. Job Requirements
- at least 1 year of housekeeping work experience preferably in a similar environment
- demonstrated janitorial or housekeeper experience including cleaning sweeping dusting mopping and general custodial duties
- excellent communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers patients visitors and supervisors
- ability to sanitize and maintain cleanliness in patient rooms hallways bathrooms offices and common areas
- ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with defined time expectations for cleaning rooms and hallways
- comfort working in a hospital environment including exposure to medical situations equipment and smells
- reliability strong work ethic and a positive attitude that supports team goals and department culture
Job Qualifications
- experience in environmental services or hospital housekeeping is highly beneficial
- prior custodial or janitorial experience in a fast-paced setting
- experience with floor care including buffing and other floor maintenance tasks is preferred but not required
- experience in hospitality home care or general labor roles involving cleaning and customer service
- excellent communication skills
- strong customer service experience

Job Duties
