SBVCC is currently seeking a dedicated full-time Housekeeper/Porter to join their Environmental Services team on the 7 AM to 3:30 PM shift, working every other weekend. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the healthcare environment, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for veterans, staff, and visitors. The Housekeeper/Porter will be responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, sweeping, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, trash removal, and the disposal of bio-hazard waste. They will also ensure that assigned areas are kept clean and attractive while promoting sanitary conditions that help prevent the spread of infection.

All staff in this role are cross-trained in various environmental services duties and may be asked to perform additional tasks as needed. Expertise in handling cleaning equipment and ensuring it remains in working order is essential to this role. The successful candidate will have prior housekeeping experience, with preference given to those who have worked in long-term care or hospital settings. Salary for this position ranges from $34,278 to $40,705 annually and represents employment within Virginia’s state government pay band 1.
