This single-level healthcare establishment features 200 private rooms across three nursing units, providing an environment designed for comfort, dignity, and high-quality long-term care for Virginia’s veterans. SBVCC is part of the Department of Veterans Services and is committed to delivering compassionate and comprehensive care to those who have served the nation. The facility integrates modern healthcare practices with respectful and personalized attention to meet the diverse needs of its veteran residents. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the healthcare environment, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for veterans, staff, and visitors. The Housekeeper/Porter will be responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, sweeping, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, trash removal, and the disposal of bio-hazard waste. They will also ensure that assigned areas are kept clean and attractive while promoting sanitary conditions that help prevent the spread of infection.

All staff in this role are cross-trained in various environmental services duties and may be asked to perform additional tasks as needed. Expertise in handling cleaning equipment and ensuring it remains in working order is essential to this role. The successful candidate will have prior housekeeping experience, with preference given to those who have worked in long-term care or hospital settings. Salary for this position ranges from $34,278 to $40,705 annually and represents employment within Virginia’s state government pay band 1. SBVCC supports a culture of inclusion and encourages applicants with disabilities and veterans to apply. Background checks, drug testing, and compliance with COVID-19 vaccination regulations are required upon hire to ensure a safe workplace.
