The Housekeeper/Custodian position plays a vital role within this team, with responsibilities spanning both medical/clinic and general facilities maintenance settings. In the medical/clinic context, the incumbent ensures the utmost cleanliness and sanitation by disinfecting rooms, medical equipment, and disposing of infectious waste in compliance with all mandated health standards. Duties extend to general upkeep of office areas, conference rooms, bathrooms, and public spaces, which contributes directly to a safe and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors.

When assigned to facilities maintenance, the Housekeeper/Custodian is responsible for the proper upkeep of County buildings, performing custodial duties such as vacuuming, carpet shampooing, floor waxing and buffing, cleaning bathrooms, and operating heavy-duty floor care equipment like buffers and scrubbers. This role requires individuals to be flexible, working designated shifts and sometimes weekends, with the possibility of receiving shift differential pay.

The position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be proficient in using custodial tools and techniques while adhering to safety protocols especially when handling chemicals, infectious materials, or hazardous waste. Additional tasks may include minor repairs, clearing outdoor debris and trash, and moving furniture to prepare spaces for meetings or events.
