This job posting is for temporary Housekeeper positions based at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The role of the Housekeeper is crucial in maintaining a clean and safe environment within healthcare settings. Responsibilities include performing light cleaning duties such as making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning patient rooms and hallways, vacuuming carpets and rugs, and overall ensuring the hospital environment is orderly and welcoming. The position demands attention to detail and quality customer service as housekeepers engage with patients and hospital staff. Tasks often include sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and polishing floors, dusting furniture, cleaning wash basins and mirrors, disposing of trash properly, and responding promptly to housekeeping requests such as spills or damaged items.

Job Requirements

  • ability to perform essential functions of housekeeping with or without reasonable accommodation
  • availability for temporary schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • must comply with drug-free workplace policy
  • must be able to follow safety and hygiene protocols
  • reliable transportation or means to commute to Lurie Children’s Hospital

Job Duties

  • provides quality customer service to customers by providing one-on-one attention to detail

  • shampoos carpets, rugs and upholstery
  • dusts and polishes furniture and fittings
  • cleans metal fixtures and fittings
  • empties and cleans trash containers
  • disposes of trash in a sanitary manner
  • cleans wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers
  • wipes down glass surfaces
  • makes up beds and changes linens as required
  • realigns furniture and amenities according to prescribed layout
  • responds to guest queries and requests
  • responds to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glasses
  • contributes to team efforts
  • exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow associates and others
  • performs other duties as assigned
