We are currently seeking a dedicated Housekeeper for a seasonal, full-time position at The Westin O'Hare. This role offers an hourly pay ranging from $24.43 to $26.50 and is classified as a non-management position. The Housekeeper will play a significant role in ensuring guest satisfaction by maintaining cleanliness and orderliness across guest rooms and common areas. This job is physically demanding and requires a commitment to following stringent safety protocols, as well as a keen attention to detail.
The Housekeeper's responsibilities include responding promptly to guest and departmental requests, replenishing supplies, and preparing rooms according to the hotel's high cleanliness standards. The role entails tasks such as cleaning bathrooms, making beds, replacing linens and guest amenities, removing trash, and performing floor care duties including vacuuming. The position also involves ensuring all appliances within guest rooms are functional and present, straightening furniture and desk items, and performing polishing and dusting to maintain the overall guest room appearance.
Employees in this role must follow company policies on safety and security rigorously, report any hazards or accidents, and complete all required safety training. Physical requirements include the ability to move, lift, and carry items up to 25 pounds independently, and with assistance for heavier loads; pushing and pulling loaded carts; and performing physical activities including bending, twisting, stooping, standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
This entry-level position does not require a high school diploma or prior work experience, making it accessible to candidates eager to enter the hospitality industry. Job Duties
- Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments
- fill cart with supplies and transport cart to assigned area
- enter guest rooms following procedures for gaining access and ensuring vacancy before entering
- replace guest amenities and supplies in rooms
- replace dirty linens and terry with clean items
- make beds and fold terry
- clean bathrooms
- remove trash, dirty linen, and room service items
- check that all appliances are present in the room and in working order
- straighten desk items, furniture, and appliances
- dust, polish, and remove marks from walls and furnishings
