Job Description
Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is a respected healthcare facility dedicated to providing exceptional long-term care to Virginia's veterans. Named in honor of two Medal of Honor recipients, Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter, this center upholds a proud tradition of excellence and commitment to those who have served our country. SBVCC offers a single-level care environment comprising 200 private rooms spread across three specialized nursing units, ensuring personalized and high-quality healthcare services to all residents. The center prides itself on maintaining a supportive and professional atmosphere for its staff while delivering compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of veterans.
The Housekeeper/Porter is a key member of the Environmental Services team at SBVCC, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility. This part-time role operates on the 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift, including every other weekend. The Housekeeper/Porter ensures that all assigned areas are clean, safe, and attractive, promoting a hygienic environment critical to the health and well-being of residents and staff. Duties include dusting, mopping, sweeping, polishing, vacuuming, trash removal, and handling bio-hazard waste responsibly. The role supports infection control efforts by maintaining sanitary conditions, which is particularly important in a healthcare setting. Employees in this position are cross-trained in various Environmental Services tasks to provide flexible coverage across the facility as needed.
SBVCC values experience in long-term care or hospital environments and prefers candidates with skills in floor care including stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning. This position offers an hourly pay range of $16.48 to $19.57 and requires a commitment to quality and professionalism in service delivery. Successful candidates will pass a thorough background check, drug screening, and TB testing as part of the hiring process. Additionally, compliance with COVID-19 vaccination regulations is mandatory, with provisions for medical or religious exemptions. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of veterans, join a supportive team, and build a rewarding career in healthcare support services.
