Job Requirements

  • knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to housekeeping in healthcare settings

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous housekeeping or custodial experience preferred

  • physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting and bending

Job Duties

  • clean assigned resident rooms bathrooms and common areas daily while maintaining residents privacy at all times
  • wash beds and mattresses and remake beds after discharge of residents
  • keep utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition
  • disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies
  • post signs indicating safety hazards during housekeeping activities
  • dust furniture handrails and equipment
  • wash walls ceilings and woodwork
  • wash windows door panels and sills
  • empty wastebaskets including biohazardous waste according to facility procedures
  • transport trash and waste to disposal area
  • use personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to hazardous body fluids
  • comply with all safety instructions when using chemicals
  • keep chemicals and cleaning supplies in original containers
  • monitor workplace for safety and fire hazards report problems
  • report housekeeping and maintenance issues to supervisor
  • participate in fire and disaster drills
  • carry out assigned duties in emergency to assure resident safety
