Job Description

The current opportunity available at Avera McKennan Hospital is for a night shift worker in a regular position. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of various hospital areas, including patient rooms, nurse stations, offices, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, elevators, and lobby areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The pay range offered for this position is between $17.50 and $21.50 per hour, with the exact rate determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications. The work schedule involves 10:30 pm to 7:00 am shifts every other weekend, as well as shorter 4-hour night shifts Monday through Friday with every Wednesday off. The role also requires coverage on alternating holidays and has a biweekly total of approximately 48 working hours.

This role requires an individual who takes pride in maintaining a clean and orderly environment and can perform various custodial duties such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing, emptying trash, and restocking supplies. The worker is also responsible for managing cleaning carts and may be tasked with sorting, washing, and delivering linens as needed. Exceptional customer service skills are crucial to maintaining good relations with patients and staff. Candidates must have adequate visual acuity and effective communication abilities to perform their duties safely and efficiently. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Maintains a clean and neat environment in assigned areas including patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas
  • Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned such as dusting, washing, drying, mopping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and emptying trash
  • Keeps assigned area fully stocked with supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper
  • Responsible for maintaining stock on individual cleaning carts including wet and dry supplies
  • Maintains good customer relations at all times
  • May sort, wash, and accurately deliver linens
