This opportunity is for a dedicated Custodian/Housekeeper role working within Avera McKennan Hospital. The position is a regular, part-time role with evening and night shifts, typically from Monday to Friday, 10:30 pm to 7:00 am, covering approximately 80 hours biweekly. The pay range for this position is between $17.50 and $21.50 per hour, depending on experience. The role includes cross-training between custodian and housekeeping duties, including maintaining cleanliness in multiple hospital areas such as patient rooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and kitchen spaces.
The Custodian/Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment which is essential to patient care and staff comfort. The role involves a variety of cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and stocking cleaning supplies. The employee will also handle linen sorting and delivery duties as needed, supporting the overall efficiency of hospital operations. Maintaining good customer relations through courteous and professional communication is vital to this position.

Job Requirements
- Ability to work evening and night shifts Monday through Friday from 10:30 pm to 7:00 am
- Availability to work every other weekend and holidays
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting and moving furniture

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One to three months of related cleaning or housekeeping experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Visual acuity sufficient to perform cleaning and stocking duties
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and sounds
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and teamwork
- Willingness to comply with safety and regulatory standards
Job Duties
- Maintain a clean and neat environment in assigned hospital areas including patient rooms, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobbies
- Participate in all assigned cleaning activities such as dusting, washing, drying, mopping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and emptying trash
- Keep assigned areas fully stocked with necessary supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper
- Maintain stock on individual cleaning carts including wet and dry supplies
- Maintain good customer relations at all times by communicating effectively and professionally
- Sort, wash, and accurately deliver linens when required
- Work cooperatively with team members to coordinate workflow and maintain an efficient environment
